Presentation of the Sandžak Democratic Party

The Sandžak Democratic Party (Sandžačka demokratska partija) was founded in 1997 as the Sandžak Coalition (Koalicija Sandžak). The present party name was adopted in 2000.

The current (third) design of party flag first appeared as the logo at party website by the beginning on 2009, but its earliest photos currently available online date from 2010 (defunct party's Facebook account). The logo consists of the large initials "SDP", the letters being off-set so as to partly cover letter "D", and the full name of the party inscribed below. The logo may be either green on white or vice versa.
The flags always have the white logo on a green field, with proportions 2:3. The size of charges varies considerably: they are very large on most of the currently newest photos, while they are visibly smaller on the oldest ones, although there are some examples of large charges on early photos and small charges on older photos.

The second design of the party flag was adopted by the beginning of 2008 and the first widely seen appearances were in the campaign for presidential elections which took place on 2008-01-20 (first round) and 2008-02-03 (second round), for the party played a prominent role in campaign of Boris Tadić, candidate of the Democratic Party (also President before the election, as well as elected at the occasion). The best views of the party flags were in live TV broadcast from the final rally of the election campaign, which took place in Belgrade on 31 January 2008. Most of the flags were green, with an incomplete fleur-de-lis (bottom part couped) and the party name initials, all in white. A small number of flags were displaying the same charges in blue on yellow field. The proportions of the flags were 1:2.

The flag of the Sandžak Democratic Party, supposed to be mainly used vertically, is vertically divided yellow-blue with a green triangle charged with a yellow fleur-de-lis in upper part. When hoisted horizontally, the flag must have the blue stripe above the yellow one, although some yellow-blue flags were inadvertently produced. The fleur-de-lis shall always point towards the shorter side of the flag, therefore it isdisplayed horizontally, facing the hoist, in horizontal flags.
The green triangle and the yellow fleur-de-lis are obvious references to the Islamic religion and the Bosnian nation, respectively. The blue and yellow stripes indicate the European orientation of the party.

The party flag was adopted in 1997 as the flag of the Sandžak Coalition. The flag remained unchanged when the name of the party was changed to Sandžak Democratic Party.

A variant of the flag of the Sandžak Democratic Party appeared during the campaign for local elections in Serbia that took place in September 2004. It is supposed to be mainly used horizontally, although its vertical hoisting was also seen. The flag is horizotally divided, yellow over blue, with a green triangle based at the hoist and charged with a yellow fleur-de-lis in vertical position. When the flag is hoisted vertically, blue is on the left-hand and yellow on the right-hand side and the fleur-de-lis is positioned vertically again, pointing towards the hoist. The height of the triangle seems to be a bit greater when the flag is hoisted vertically, so that the fleur-de-lis can fit in.
The variant of the flag is used along with the old one, as could be seen in the magazine Reporter (Belgrade), No. 310, pp. 14-15, 22 September 2004.
